He was raging.

Said one of the board members kept interrupting him.

Wouldn’t even let him finish a sentence.

He felt attacked.
Disrespected.
But after some back and forth, it was clear—

He didn’t just feel interrupted.
He felt undervalued.
That’s what he was really angry about.

We all want to feel seen, heard, and safe.

That doesn’t change just because we’re in a suit, sitting at a boardroom table.

But here’s the thing—
If you’re not giving those things to yourself,
You’ll keep expecting everyone else to.
And when they don’t, it’ll feel personal.

Like an attack.
Like a threat.

What he hadn’t done before that meeting
Was take five simple minutes to centre himself.
To get clear on his message.
To actually hear his own thoughts.

So of course, he walked in feeling unsteady.
And someone else’s rudeness knocked him sideways.
Turns out the board member interrupted everyone.
It wasn’t personal.
But it felt personal—because he hadn’t backed himself before he even walked in.

Next meeting?

He gave himself space to prep properly—mentally and emotionally.
He walked in grounded.
And didn’t get rattled.

This is what most people miss.

You want to feel in control in the room?
You have to anchor into yourself before you enter it.
Otherwise, you’ll be thrown by every interruption, every opinion, every power play.

What do you do to see and hear yourself to create safety in your body?
